Stories of Hope
When the OHAfrica team first arrived at Tšepong in 2004, there were less than 116 HIV positive patients registered at the clinic. By the end of March 2009, over 10,000 HIV positive patients were registered. In addition, a further 17,000 HIV positive patients are registered at 20 community health centres supported by Tšepong.
Each one of the people coming through the doors of either the clinic or health care centres have stories to tell—of full lives hampered by disease and discrimination leading to healing and hope through the work of Tšepong. Mothers and fathers, grandmothers and grandchildren, boys and girls. Thousands of stories of hope restored.
We're not free to tell all of those stories or show you all of their pictures. Stigma and discrimination are still powerful forces in the battle to overcome HIV/AIDS in Lesotho. But here are the stories of some of the now hopeful. Where necessary, we have changed the names and not included photos in order to protect their identities.
