Bracelet of Hope

Tšepong reaches 10,000 mark

A significant milestone was passed in the early months of this year at the Tšepong Clinic. As of February 2009, more than 10,000 patients have enrolled for HIV/AIDS testing, counseling and treatment at the clinic since it opened in early 2005. In addition to that, over 17,000 women, men and children have been seen at primary health care centres spread throughout the Leribe District. Every day, between 100-120 people file through the doors of the clinic and find welcome, comfort and healing.

This is a remarkable testament to the all the staff in Lesotho whose vision, commitment and dogged hard work has made this happen. And it a remarkable testament to all you who have given from your hearts to this important cause.

Today in Lesotho, 27,000 people understand that HIV/AIDS is not a death sentence. Albeit still overwhelming in its scope, we possess the scientific knowledge, the pharmaceutical tools and the financial resources that are necessary to stop the devastating spread of this disease in this small country. And by mobilizing our communities here in Canada, we actively make ourselves part of the solution. This is doable. Bracelet of Hope is one community reaching out to another, both transformed by the experience.
