Bracelet of Hope

Reach out with Red Rose - we need votes!

Big Wes Burrows - The Big ShaveA year ago this past spring we had a new supporter get inspired and organize a fundraiser in his church that raised over $10,000. A head shaving event that we now refer to affectionately as "The Big Shave". His name is Wes Burrows. We made connections there that in the year and a half since have led to many talks for Dr. Anne-Marie Zajdlik.

In the fall of 2008 Wes traveled with a group to visit both the South Africa women's craft cooperative where the Bracelet of Hope is made and to the Tsepong Clinic in Lesotho, which is where the money raised by our campaign goes to provide support.

This past June Wes organized a repeat event, with different heads, and raised another $10,000!

Wes was entered in a contest put on by Red Rose Tea that recognizes the achievements of Canadians who "reach out" to support a need locally, regionally, nationally or internationally. If you would like to support Wes in this contest, please go to the link shown below and then select a link on the right hand side of that web page that is labelled "Most Popular”. Then you will see a picture of a bunch of kids with Wes at the Dormie orphanage in Eshowe, South Africa. Click on the picture and when the next screen opens, you vote for Wes and you’re done. (They will send you a confirmation email and once you confirm that, you are really done).

Now sadly (or perhaps fairly), you can only vote once (per email address). Some of you have multiple email addresses. If so, please use them all. And with each of you having friends and family, I hope that we will be able to generate quite a good number of votes.
