Responsibilities:  Working as part of a small staff team, the Volunteering and community engagement coordinator will have primary responsibility for engaging community members in the work of Bracelet of Hope (primarily fundraising and volunteering).  S/he will:

    • develop and implement programmes and materials for engaging specific groups within the community such as students or faith groups;
    • contribute to the development of a community engagement strategy centered on working with small groups of engaged community members ("Teams of Hope”);
   • effectively manage relationships with community members
   • manage volunteering with Bracelet of Hope including recruitment, training and support, recognition, and evaluation of volunteers;
   • contribute to specific fundraising activities, particularly when volunteers are needed


Qualifications:
    • University degree in a relevant area and minimum 3 years experience
    • Active commitment to volunteering and community engagement
    • Initiative; strong self-starter
    • Very strong inter-personal skills; ability to relate to a diverse range of organisations
    • Creativity in organizing promotional and educational events
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
    • Good web 2.0 and social media skills
    • Good organizational skills
    • Valid driver’s license and access to a car

Position details:
   • Permanent position
   • 37.5 hours/week; often irregular hours
   • Start date:  Beginning of June 2012
