About Us
The bracelets symbolize hope. One country reaching out to another, and both transformed by the experience. A stunning example of international cooperation—an example that will assist Lesotho in overcoming its AIDS pandemic. One country: AIDS-free.
The Bracelet of Hope Campaign has a goal of seeing a red and white bracelet on the wrist of every Canadian, and raising $150 million for HIV/AIDS relief in Lesotho, Africa.
In the past, much of the funds raised by Bracelet of Hope supported the Tšepong Clinic in the southern African country of Lesotho. The Tšepong Clinic ("Place of Hope”) provides life-saving care and antiretroviral (ARV) treatment to thousands of HIV/AIDS-infected people in the district of Leribe.
OHAfrica has partnered with the Lesotho Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and with local health care providers to run this clinic since its creation in 2004 when it was the first government sponsored HIV/AIDS clinic in Lesotho.
Since then, OHAfrica has managed the clinic operation so well that as of March 31, 2010, the Lesotho Ministry of Health and Social Welfare has assumed full responsibility for the on-going operation and funding of Tšepong.
